What is Alpha Kappa Psi?

Alpha Kappa Psi (AKΨ) is the first professional business fraternity in the United States, founded on October 5, 1904 at New York University. Phi Upsilon is the University of Tampa's chapter, founded on April 20, 2024 and officially recognized on campus on November 10, 2024.

Do I have to be a business major to join?

No. Alpha Kappa Psi at UT is open to students of every major. Brothers come from all colleges at the University of Tampa, and the chapter values the range of perspectives that brings.

Is Alpha Kappa Psi a social fraternity?

No. Alpha Kappa Psi is a co-ed professional fraternity focused on professional development, networking, service, and brotherhood. Men and women both join, and the chapter also hosts social events so brothers get to know each other outside the boardroom.

How does recruitment work?

Recruitment runs for about a week at the start of the semester and includes professional events (an info session, speed networking, and a Shark Tank pitch) and social events. Fall 2026 recruitment ran September 15 to 23.

What do I need to do to get an interview?

Attend at least 3 recruitment events, and make sure at least one of them is a professional event. Candidates who meet that requirement qualify for an interview with the chapter.

What should I wear to recruitment events?

The info session and speed networking are business casual. The Shark Tank event is business professional. Social events are casual.

How do I sign up?

Fill out the recruitment sign-up form with your Spartan email, then join the chapter GroupMe for event reminders, deadlines, and announcements.

Where have Alpha Kappa Psi brothers worked?

UT brothers have worked or interned at companies including JPMorgan Chase, Morgan Stanley, Raymond James, Edward Jones, PepsiCo, the New York Yankees, Northwestern Mutual, New York Life, VanEck, TJX Companies, and The Florida Aquarium.
